Louise Mac Sweeney - Civil Funeral Celebrant

The Process

Guiding you every step of the way on this difficult path with care and compassion.

Once I hear from you or your Funeral Director with information about the deceased, I will arrange a meeting with you in person or online.

Please allow up to 2 hours for this. You will be my primary point of contact throughout the process.

crafting the ceremony

This consultation is an opportunity to truly understand your loved one so we can create a service that feels authentic and personal. Whether you envision a simple, understated farewell or a more elaborate tribute, the ceremony will be tailored to reflect their unique individuality.

You have the flexibility to choose elements from a wide range of resources. I can provide guidance on selecting readings, poems, and music if needed.

If the deceased had meaningful passions, hobbies, or keepsakes, we could incorporate these to make the ceremony more personal.

I can also assist with the eulogy and be on ‘standby’ if the intended speaker is unable to deliver it for any reason.

You will have already decided on the length of the service with your Funeral Director, which will guide the timing of the eulogy, readings, speakers, and music.

Cremation ceremonies typically allow around 20 minutes unless a double slot has been arranged. As crematoria often run services consecutively, it’s essential to keep within the allocated time to ensure a smooth and respectful transition between ceremonies. Burials or funeral home services may offer more flexibility in this regard.

We will plan the ceremony to fit within the available time and explore all options to ensure a fitting send off.

your approval

After finalising the details, I will create the ceremony, including your personal touches.

A draft will be sent to you by email, typically the next day, followed by a call to go over any adjustments.

Once you’re happy with everything, I’ll print the final version.
